The Wild Boar, spirit of Tuscany

The wild boar is not just a wild animal: it is a living symbol of Tuscany, an icon of strength and authenticity that permeates the culture, cuisine and landscape of this land. Our name is a tribute to this noble inhabitant of the Tuscan woods.

A millennial symbol

Since the Etruscan and Roman ages, the wild boar has been revered as an emblem of courage and vitality. In Florence, the famous "Porcellino" bronze in Piazza del Mercato Nuovo has been the city's good luck charm for centuries. On Monte Pisano, in the woods surrounding our property, the wild boar has roamed free since time immemorial, an integral part of the Mediterranean ecosystem.

Wild boar in the woods

In Tuscan culture

The wild boar festival is an unmissable event in Tuscan villages, where the meat is prepared according to recipes passed down through generations: wild boar ragù, pappardelle al cinghiale, cured meats. These dishes represent the essence of Tuscan cuisine: bold flavours, genuine ingredients, respect for tradition.

Guardian of the woods

The wild boar plays a fundamental ecological role in the forests of Monte Pisano and the Tuscan hills. By digging the soil in search of roots and tubers, it helps renew the undergrowth and disperse seeds. It is an intelligent, social animal perfectly adapted to the Mediterranean scrubland landscape that characterises our territory.

Why "La Tana del Cinghiale"

We chose this name because our farmhouse sits right in the heart of the Tuscan wild boar's territory: a secluded and sheltered place, an authentic refuge immersed in nature. Just as the wild boar finds its safe haven in the woods, our guests will find here a space of tranquillity and genuineness, far from the daily rush.

We're getting everything ready to welcome you
